A veteran Aurora Police officer has been named April’s “Employee of the Month” for safely de-escalating a dangerous situation with an out-of-control man.

The City of Aurora will be modifying the Church Road traffic pattern to help alleviate congestion resulting from a street widening project that started May 16.

It’s been a busy year of accolades for Aurora Police Officer Pedro “Pete” Rodriguez.

After receiving the police department’s “Medal of Valor” in February—the highest award that can be bestowed upon an Aurora Police officer—Officer Rodriguez was named the Exchange Club of Aurora’s “Police Officer of the Year” yesterday.
